    This issue of the International Journal of Research in Computing (IJRC) marks an important step in the journal's continuous development, introducing several initiatives aimed at enhancing its international visibility, publication quality, and adherence to global scholarly publishing standards.

    A significant milestone achieved during this issue is the journal's partnership with the ResearchGate Journal Program, through which all published articles are now automatically indexed and displayed on the dedicated IJRC journal page on ResearchGate. This collaboration improves the discoverability and accessibility of published research while increasing its global reach within the research community.

    The journal has also strengthened its Editorial Board with the appointment of internationally recognised academics representing China, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, India, and Sri Lanka. This expanded geographical representation brings together expertise across a broad spectrum of computing disciplines, including artificial intelligence, software engineering, information systems, computational mathematics, electronics and communication engineering, disaster informatics, cybersecurity, educational technology, and digital transformation, further reinforcing the quality and diversity of the journal's peer-review process.

    In addition, the journal has introduced a significantly enhanced article format aligned with current international publishing practices. Each article now includes comprehensive publication metadata on the first page, including author identifiers (ORCID iDs), Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), author affiliations, corresponding author information, funding details, conflict of interest declarations, author contribution statements, acknowledgements, ethical declarations where applicable, Artificial Intelligence (AI) use declarations, data and code availability statements, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) mappings. These enhancements improve research transparency, integrity, reproducibility, and compliance with modern scholarly publishing requirements.

    To ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of published research, every article is assigned a DOI and is permanently archived in the KDU Institutional Repository (IR@KDU), maintained by the Library of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. Together, these developments reflect IJRC's continued commitment to advancing research quality, increasing international visibility, and providing a trusted platform for the dissemination of computing research.

    The International Journal of Research in Computing (IJRC), the official journal of the Faculty of Computing, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, is pleased to present Volume 5, Issue 1 with several important updates aimed at improving quality, transparency, and timely dissemination of research.

    With this issue, the journal has revised its article format to a more modern and informative structure. New mandatory sections have been introduced, including AI Usage Statements, Data Availability Statements, Code Availability Statements, Funding Statements, Conflict of Interest Declarations, and Ethical Considerations. These changes are intended to promote ethical authorship, research transparency, responsible use of AI tools, and data-sharing practices in line with international publishing standards.

    In addition, the Editorial Board has decided to introduce an “In Press” early publication feature, allowing accepted abstracts to be published online prior to full paper publication. This initiative addresses the delay caused by the journal’s biannual publication cycle, enabling authors to make their research visible and citable without waiting up to six months for the final issue release.

    These developments reflect IJRC’s continued commitment to high-quality peer-reviewed research, ethical scholarly practices, and improved visibility for authors. Volume 5, Issue 1 marks a significant step forward in strengthening the journal’s role as a trusted open-access platform for computing research at national and international levels.

    The International Journal of Research in Computing (IJRC) which will publish high quality and refereed papers by the Faculty of Computing of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University will constitute research work from all computing-related topics from various fields such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information and Communication Technologies, Information Systems, Computational Mathematics, etc., hence providing a platform for researchers and scholars worldwide from the numerous fields of Computing, to publicize their works or to enhance their knowledge. While serving the focal purpose of the journal to provide a space to archive all research work published at the annual International Research Conferences of the University for public access and reference. This Journal will also accept Research works from other scholars worldwide. The Journal will proceed to publish these works of research after a standard peer-review process to ensure the quality and authenticity of the journal and its content. This journal will be published as an open-access journal in order to give wider access to the journal and two volumes will be published per year.
